Economic Development Corporation

The community based Economic Development Corporation (EDC) shall dedicate its resources to the enhancement of the economic environment while improving the quality of life for the citizens of Gordon.  It will specifically address the preservation and success of local business and industry, promoting local trade, job creation and advancement. Meetings are held the 3rd Monday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Gordon Community Center.

What is the Development Corporation?

​In 1979 the Texas Legislature passed the Development Corporation Act which allowed municipalities to create nonprofit development corporations that use sales tax dollars to develop new businesses; to promote the retention/expansion of established businesses; and to fund a wide variety of projects for quality of life improvements.

What can the Development Corporation of Gordon do for you and the community?

EDC funds can be used to: acquire land, buildings, equipment & facilities; fund infrastructure improvements, sports & entertainment facilities, tourism, parks & public events.
